UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORTING PEOPLE WHO SELF HARM

Course for schools

 

Target Group

This training is aimed at any body that works with children who self harm in any school or education situation or surrounding.

 

Learning Outcomes

  • To be aware of resources that can help
  • To be more aware of the facts and figures about self-harm.
  • To gain knowledge about what self-harm is.
  • To have a better understanding about why people self-harm.
  • To have time to explore your own attitudes, values and feelings about self-harm.
  • To gain a better knowledge about what can help.
  • To explore the issues self harming behaviour raises for schools.
  • To explore the school related support needs of children and young people who self harm

Sally Penna-Bray – Educational Psychologist, Somerset County Council

Sarah Varley – Specialist Link Worker, CAMHS, Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

 

Dates and venue:

Thursday 27th September – Quantock Room, Holway Centre, Taunton

Thursday 29th November – Chedzoy Village Hall, Chedzoy, Nr Bridgwater

 

Time:

09:30am to 16:30pm – 1 day course

 

Cost:

£50.00 per participant, which includes teas and coffees, handouts and certificate of attendance.  Lunch is not provided.
